Privacy policy
How we handle information, and the choices available to you.
Last updated: 3 November 2026Who we are
S JANE CONSULTING LIMITED, company number 17548374, trades as S Jane Consulting. Our registered address is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ.
For privacy enquiries, email [email protected] or telephone +44 7700 900682. Website: sjaneconsulting.co.uk.
We are the controller of personal information used to manage our own enquiries, client relationships and business administration. Where we process personal data solely on a client’s instructions, the client is the controller and we act as a processor under a written agreement meeting Article 28 UK GDPR. That agreement defines the permitted processing, safeguards, assistance and return or deletion of data.
Information we handle
We handle the contact details you provide, including your name, work email, telephone number, organisation and role; correspondence about your enquiry; contracts and project administration records; and relevant business documents supplied for an agreed engagement.
Client documents may contain information about staff or other business contacts. We ask for only the information needed for the scope and encourage you to remove or anonymise unnecessary personal details. Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and arrangements have first been agreed.
This website has no contact submission form, customer account or checkout. Email links open your chosen email application. We receive the information you choose to send by email or provide during our correspondence.
Purposes and lawful bases
- Contract: taking steps at your request before a contract and carrying out a contract with you as an individual.
- Legitimate interests: responding to business enquiries, managing relationships with organisational clients, delivering consulting work and protecting business records. We consider whether these interests are outweighed by your rights.
- Legal obligation: keeping records or providing information where applicable law requires us to do so.
- Consent: where we specifically ask you to agree to an optional use of your information. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Where we act as a processor, we follow the client’s documented instructions; the client is responsible for establishing its lawful basis. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling to make decisions about you.
International transfers
We do not assume that all email processing takes place in the UK. If an arrangement involves a restricted transfer of personal data outside the UK, we must ensure an appropriate UK adequacy regulation or other lawful safeguard applies, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum, with the required assessment. Where we act as a processor, any transfer must also follow the client’s instructions and agreement.
Contact us for details of the safeguards applicable to your information.
Retention and deletion
We retain enquiry correspondence for as long as it is needed to address the enquiry and any reasonable follow-up. We retain contract and administration records for the period needed to meet applicable legal obligations and deal with relevant claims. We review whether continued retention is necessary rather than keeping information indefinitely.
For client working documents, we agree retention, return and deletion arrangements as part of the engagement. Data processed on a client’s behalf is returned or deleted at the end of the services as instructed, unless the law requires retention.
Keeping information secure
Our approach is to minimise the data used, limit access to the people who need it and agree suitable handling arrangements for client documents. Access and sharing must be proportionate to the work. No method of communication can be guaranteed completely secure; contact us before sending material that needs additional protection.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, subject to the applicable conditions and exemptions, you may request access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, erasure, restriction of processing and portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it by emailing us. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month; if a lawful extension applies, we will explain why.
If your request concerns information we process for a client, we will refer it to that controller and assist them as required by our agreement.
Questions and complaints
Please contact us if you have a concern about how your information is handled. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Age restriction
Our services are intended for adult business contacts aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, processing arrangements or legal requirements change. The latest version will appear on this page with its update date. Where required, we will bring material changes to your attention.
